Every contributor to these discussions is making excellent points (see,
for example, Joel Wolowelsky, Digest #62); but the problems described
should most accurately be seen as symptoms of a larger problem, not
problems themselves. The problem is the lack of a central professional
center for Jewish High Schools, providing on a North American scale (note
where this email comes from...) the services normally provided to High
Schools by school boards, curriculum associations, professional
organizations etc. Until this happens, we will all be doomed to
continually reinvent the wheel in our own schools, at an enormous and
wasteful cost in financial, educational and human resources. I have
addressed this in a short article ('The North American Center for Jewish
High School Education - is there a Foundation listening?'), which I will
happily email or fax to anyone interested. While the piece was written in
the context of the growth in Community Schools, I believe that the future
will see cooperation between a wide
