Presented by Hyim Brandes, The Lookstein Center’s Director of Technology, this three-part series guides teachers from curiosity to confident, creative use of AI in the classroom. From demystifying AI tools and learning simple, time-saving teaching strategies to exploring how AI can enhance differentiation, inspire innovative lessons, and empower students, these sessions help Jewish educators harness AI to elevate their classroom instruction.

SESSION 1: The Foundation – What Is AI and How Can It Help Me Now? 

Curious about AI but have no idea where to begin? This foundational session demystifies tools like ChatGPT and shows you how to write simple prompts to immediately help with emails, brainstorming, and lesson prep. This is designed for the true beginner who has little to no experience and is asking, “What is all the hype about, and how can it possibly save me time?”

SESSION 2: The Thoughtful Jewish Studies Classroom – Cultivating Integrity and Responsible AI Use

Worried that AI makes it too easy for students to cheat on their assignments? This session moves beyond unreliable detection tools, equipping you with practical strategies for designing assessments that demand the kind of critical thinking AI can’t replicate. Learn how to foster a culture of integrity while guiding students to use AI appropriately and reflectively. We’ll share practical strategies for designing assessments that promote deep thinking, student voice, and ethical decision-making, even in an AI-rich world. This session is for educators asking, “How can I prevent cheating and help my students use AI the right way?”
