Abraham Joshua Heschel School is seeking a full-time Early Childhood General Studies teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Teachers are the heart and soul of our program. Our faculty works in teams of three to support students’ social, emotional, and academic growth. We are looking for an enthusiastic and nurturing educator who is invested in working with young children and facilitating joyful learning. Our teachers help to cultivate the children’s Jewish identity, pride, and connection to Israel. Immersive classroom experiences with Jewish prayers, values, holidays, and Shabbat are fundamental to our program. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and writing skills and be equipped with creativity, flexibility, a sense of humor, and a growth mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
Developing and implementing a dynamic curriculum with a focus on inquiry-based learning and active engagement
Providing patient care and scaffolding as children explore, discover, and play
Building strong relationships with students and families
Collaborating closely with colleagues to plan and guide interdisciplinary activities
Leading and supporting lessons in language, literacy, math, science, and the arts
Celebrating each child as an individual and meeting a range of needs through differentiation
Observing, assessing, and documenting student learning
Communicating goals and progress with families and Early Childhood leadership team
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
Experience working with children between the ages of three and six
Knowledge of developmentally-appropriate practice and dual-language settings
Background in Fundations, Singapore Math, and Responsive Classroom Curriculum
Familiarity with Jewish holidays and traditions
Strength in teaming and multi-tasking in a busy classroom
Commitment to self-reflection and professional development
