Robert M. Beren Academy (RMBA) is a Modern Orthodox Jewish day school committed to academic excellence, Jewish values, and nurturing the next generation of Jewish leaders. RMBA is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and dedicated Kindergarten Assistant to join our team to support the Lead Teacher in fostering a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for young students. The Assistant will play a key role in promoting the social, emotional, and academic growth of children while embracing the values of Jewish education. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the development of young minds in a nurturing and collaborative school community.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Lead Teacher in delivering age-appropriate lessons in Jewish studies (such as Hebrew Language and Reading, Jewish holidays, and values).
Support students in their social, emotional, and academic development, providing individualized or small group support as needed.
Supervise students during classroom activities, outdoor play, lunch, and other transitions throughout the school day.
Help with classroom management, ensuring a positive and respectful environment for all students.
Prepare classroom materials, displays, and resources for lessons and activities.
Encourage and support students in developing their social skills, fostering a sense of community and collaboration.
Assist in the implementation of classroom routines, rituals, and Jewish traditions.
Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and parent-teacher conferences as needed.
Maintain clear communication with the Lead Teacher and other staff members regarding student progress and classroom needs.
Promote Jewish values, holidays, and customs within the classroom setting.
Provide general classroom support, including setting up and cleaning up activities, assisting with classroom technology, and helping with administrative tasks.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred).
Previous experience working with young children, particularly in a Kindergarten or early childhood setting and experience in a Jewish educational environment is a plus.
Ability to read Hebrew (spoken Hebrew language preferred).
Strong understanding of child development and early childhood education principles.
Ability to communicate effectively with young children, parents, and colleagues.
