Lower School Learning Support Teacher |

The Abraham Joshua Heschel School is seeking a one year full time lower school learning support teacher (Grades 1-5) for the 2026-27 school year.

Graduate degree in literacy/reading, learning disabilities, or speech and language, and at least 3 years of school-based experience is required.

The ideal candidate should have the following:

Training in Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, PAF, or similar program
Experience with The Writing Revolution
Experience with behavioral support preferred
Experience administering a variety of assessments to track and support student growth
At least three years school-based teaching experience as a learning specialist or SLP with a focus on attaining early literacy skills
A strong knowledge base in the area of learning differences, especially dyslexia, dysgraphia, as well as a deep knowledge base regarding ADHD

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Teaching small reading groups as requested, with a focus on decoding, comprehension, and writing
Providing push-in support/team teaching during ELA
Collaborating with teachers and providing guidance for supporting a range of learners, including modifying curriculum and implementing supportive strategies in the classroom.
Partnering with families and outside specialists regarding the needs and progress of students
Participating in parent conferences and writing individual progress reports
Daily assignments determined by the school based on instructional and coverage needs

The full-time equivalent salary range is $65,000 – $95,000, depending on years of experience.
