Position: 2nd Grade General Studies Teacher
Employment Type: Part Time/Full-Time
We are seeking a warm, dedicated, and enthusiastic 2nd Grade General Studies Teacher to join our school community. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing and engaging classroom environment while providing strong academic instruction in reading, writing, phonics, mathematics, science, and social studies.
The teacher will use the Fundations curriculum to build foundational literacy and phonics skills and enVision Math to develop students’ mathematical understanding, problem-solving abilities, and confidence.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons for second-grade students.
- Implement the Fundations curriculum to strengthen phonics, decoding, spelling, handwriting, and early literacy skills.
- Implement enVision Math lessons that promote conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and mathematical fluency.
- Teach and integrate science, social studies, writing, and other general studies subjects.
- Establish a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the academic and learning needs of individual students.
- Assess student progress and use assessment data to guide instruction.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with parents and guardians.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school activities.
- Foster students’ academic growth, independence, confidence, and love of learning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required.
- Teaching certification preferred/required based on school and state requirements.
- Experience teaching elementary-aged students strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Fundations and enVision Math preferred.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A positive, patient, and nurturing approach to working with young children.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated school team.
