How do Jews and non-Jews learn about Judaism through the cultural arts? In their new book, Laura Yares and Sharon Avni explore how engagement in cultural, digital, and leisurely spaces affects how adults learn about Jewishness. They argue that visiting a museum or going to a concert, for instance, can be a powerful learning experience.
For this webinar, guests Judah M. Cohen (Hebrew Union College), Julie Golding (Touro University), and Vanessa Ochs (University of Virginia) will join the authors to discuss Judaism Mediated: Learning About Jewishness Through the Cultural Arts. In a talk with moderator Ziva Hassenfeld, the panelists will engage in a conversation with the authors that will reveal the meaningful value of Jewish educational spaces outside the classroom.
