Ma’ayanot Yeshiva High School for girls seeks an experienced math teacher and department chair to teach a broad range of topics and to be readily available to students and colleagues beyond the classroom.

The ideal candidate is a caring person who relates well to students and colleagues, and has facility and experience teaching multiple levels of Algebra, Geometry and Pre-Calculus. In a department chair, we seek a leader in curriculum and pedagogy who will collaborate with our wonderful team of math teachers and serve as a link between the math department and the administration, guidance, the learning center, students and families.

Department Chair Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as a link between the math department and the administration, guidance, the learning center, students and families.
In collaboration with the Head of School and Associate Principal, lead efforts to revise annual teaching assignments and hire new math teaching faculty as needed, including long-term substitute teachers.
In collaboration with the Head of School, Associate Principal, and other department chairs, assign students to appropriate academic tracks, considering performance data, teacher recommendations, and student/family preferences. Address track change requests as appropriate.
Serve as a leader in curriculum and pedagogy in the department, including maintaining knowledge of leading practices in high school math education.
Facilitate department meetings that promote participation from all department members.
Advocate for the math department while supporting the wider mission of the school.
Become involved with co-curricular activities related to their interests.
Qualifications include:
BA and MA in math, education, or a related field
Minimum of 5-7 years relevant teaching experience
Ability to work well with students of diverse abilities
Ability to lead a strong department of colleagues
Strong communication and organizational skills
Desire and ability to think creatively and flexibly
