TITLE: Boys Varsity Volleyball Head Coach

Abraham Joshua Heschel School, NYC, is looking for an assistant coach for the spring boys volleyball varsity season. The ideal candidate will be able to create and implement a comprehensive practice plan and game strategy that enhances skill acquisition, development, and promotes a positive overall team culture.

REPORTS to: The Director of Athletics and Head of School

FUNCTION: The Head Coach is responsible for creating an environment that reflects the values and goals of the Heschel Athletics Department. The Head Coach is also responsible for organizing team practices, travel logistics and game management decisions. To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the essential duties with care and compassion for all of our student-athletes. They must model appropriate sports-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.

Education and Certification Requirements:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Associate or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Must be First-Aid-CPR-AED Certified
Up-to-date Covid-19 vaccination
A background check and sexual harassment training are also required

Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in physical education or related area; any level of coaching certification from a recognized sport governing body

Job Specifics:
Length of season- Approximately 3 months (Mid March-June)
Two-hour practices- two to three days per week (Sundays – TBD), (Mondays and Wednesdays (5:30-7:30).
League: Metropolitan High School Athletic League (myhsal.com). Playing against NY, NJ, and Long Island Schools
Pay rate: Stipend starting at $4,000 based on workload and experience.
