A Paraprofessional works under the direction of a licensed educator to support and assist with providing instructional and non-instructional services to students.

Paraprofessional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Be capable of physically assisting students with ambulation and navigation within the school premises and community.
Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the teacher.
Assist in the implementation of goals for the students and monitor their progress.
Provide necessary support to enable them to participate in all activities.
Reinforce appropriate behaviors through the use of positive behavior support.
Aiding other professionals such as speech therapists, social workers, and occupational and physical therapists during instruction.
Assist classroom teachers with maintaining student records, display of student work, one-to-one or small group instruction as outlined by the teacher, and other supportive tasks.
Support students with emotional or behavioral concerns and assist them in developing appropriate social skills.
Implement behavior plans and collect data with appropriate training.
Teaching and assisting students in daily life skills such as feeding, ADLs, and toileting as needed
Be able to lift a min. of 50 lbs.
