Manhattan Day School, a Modern Orthodox Yeshiva day school located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, is currently seeking a full-time licensed Mental Health Professional (LCSW, PhD, or PsyD) for our Early Childhood program. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in early child development, have excellent clinical skills, possess at least three years experience working with young children in a school or clinical setting, and collaborate well with both the Early Childhood staff as well as the Psychology Team.
Responsibilities:
Observe classrooms and students regularly to monitor social and emotional growth and need for intervention
Support the Early Childhood Director in issues related to students’ psychosocial development
Consult with faculty about concerns regarding students’ psychological, social, and academic functioning
Coordinate parent meetings and collaborate with parents to address specific concerns; provide referrals when indicated
Provide counseling, play therapy, and social skills training as needed
Serve as a member of the Student Support Team: assess students, provide recommendations, and implement these recommendations when appropriate
Meet weekly with the Early Childhood Director and Director of Psychological Services
Co-facilitate teacher professional development workshops
Advance professional and clinical knowledge and skills through continuing education
Maintain documentation in a professional, efficient, and confidential manner
Conduct admissions interviews and observations, and provide recommendations to admissions team
For Psychologist candidates: Conduct brief psychoeducational assessments for incoming students.
Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Social Work or Doctorate in School or Clinical Psychology
New York State Licensure (LCSW or Licensed Psychologist)
Preferred: at least three years experience working with young children in a school or clinical setting
Compensation: $80,000 – $90,000
