The Shefa School is seeking an Assistant Head of Judaic Studies for Summer 2024. This is a full-time, year-round position. The Assistant Head of Judaic Studies will report to the Head of Judaic Studies. Key responsibilities include:

● Serve as a role model of Jewish life and learning for students, faculty and families
● Collaborate with the Head of Judaic Studies to play a leading role in supporting Shefa’s Jewish culture
● Teach as a lead teacher in Middle School Judaic Studies classes, which includes
developing curriculum, delivering instruction, building relationships with students, assessing student learning, managing classroom routines and behavior, and communicating regularly with families
● Support the development of curriculum in the areas of Chumash, Chagim and Tefillah throughout the divisions
● Lead morning Tefillah in the Middle School
● Collaborate with Hebrew faculty to support implementation of new Hebrew literacy and language initiatives
● Collaborate in planning Judaic and interdisciplinary programming in the school
● Collaborate with general studies teachers to design and facilitate interdisciplinary learning

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a depth of training, expertise, and passion in the field of Judaic Studies and Jewish life as well as experience using multisensory instruction and experience in working with students with language-based learning disabilities. We seek candidates who have experience with designing and developing differentiated curriculum that is accessible to a range of learners with varying degrees of background in studying Jewish text and in Hebrew language. Candidates must have a strong understanding of pluralism and embrace the philosophy of pluralism through his/her teaching. Applicants must have at least 10 years of teaching experience, have strong leadership experience and hold a Rabbinical or Master’s Degree.

Salary Range: $130,000 – $155,000 commensurate with experience.
