Yeshiva Har Torah, a vibrant Orthodox Jewish day school on the Queens/Long Island border, is seeking a warm, caring, and dedicated Assistant Teacher to serve as a temporary maternity leave replacement. In this role, you will work closely with a head teacher to help maintain a nurturing, engaging, and structured classroom environment throughout her leave. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who loves working with children, thrives in a collaborative setting, and is eager to support a well-established classroom community.
Responsibilities Include:
Supporting the head teacher and classroom routines during the leave period
Assisting with instruction, small groups, and individual student reinforcement
Helping prepare materials and maintain a well-organized classroom
Contributing to classroom management and positive student behavior
Supervising students throughout the school day
Maintaining a calm, consistent environment that aligns with YHT expectations
Qualifications:
High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred
Prior experience working with children strongly preferred
Warm, responsible, and flexible team player
Strong communication skills and ability to follow established routines
