Westchester Torah Academy (WTA) – an innovative modern Orthodox Day School in New Rochelle, NY serving children 8 weeks through 8th grade – is seeking warm, experienced, and dedicated Montessori Lead and Assistant Teachers to work in our Early Childhood Division (2’s, 3’s, 4’s, & Kindergarten).
WTA’s Early Childhood program blends authentic Montessori principles with a rich foundation in Jewish life, values, and learning. Our dual-language classrooms foster independence, curiosity, and a strong sense of community in a nurturing, developmentally appropriate environment.
Responsibilities include:
– Plan and implement an authentic Montessori curriculum that supports children’s academic, social-emotional, and spiritual growth
– Infuse the classroom with Jewish values and incorporate age-appropriate celebrations of Jewish holidays as they arise in the calendar
– Foster a warm, respectful, and structured classroom atmosphere aligned with both Montessori and Jewish values
– Observe, assess, and document student progress; adjust lessons and materials based on developmental needs
– Collaborate with co-teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive classroom environment
– Build strong, trusting relationships with students and families; maintain open, regular communication with parents
– Participate in school-wide professional development and contribute to a positive, mission-driven school culture
Qualifications:
– Montessori experience and/or training with direction toward credential certification for Early Childhood (ages 3–6)
– Montessori certification preferred but not required
– Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (Master’s preferred)
– Minimum of 2 years lead teaching experience in a Montessori setting
– Passion for nurturing the whole child and supporting their intellectual, emotional, and spiritual development
– Familiarity with or openness to working in a Jewish day school environment
