Position: Director of Education
Location: Temple Sinai, Tenafly, New Jersey
Compensation: $95,000-$110,000 along with a generous benefit package

We’re looking for someone with a passion and enthusiasm for Jewish education and the values of Reform Judaism, who is motivated and able to connect and relate to people of all ages. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to partner with our dynamic clergy and senior staff team as we seek to implement the goals of our recent visioning process, which includes a focus on engagement and education. We’re looking for someone with the knowledge of contemporary Jewish education and the creativity to generate and implement a vision for innovating our K-7 Religious School program and post-b’nei mitzvah teen programs.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Religious School: The primary responsibility of the Director of Education (DOE) is to serve as the principal and leader of our Religious School, grades K-7. Our religious school currently has 114 students and meets on Sunday mornings and Tuesday afternoons. The DOE chooses, develops, and implements the curriculum. They recruit, train, and supervise the faculty, both professional teachers and madrichim (teen teaching assistants).
• Teen Education and Youth Group Programs: The DOE works together with Rabbi Millstein in developing teen programs for Temple Sinai. The DOE will work with the rabbi on hiring and supervising our youth advisor(s).
• Early Childhood: We are looking for our DOE to be a strong presence in the ECC for the express purpose of building relationships with children and parents.
• Adult Learning: The DOE will work collaboratively with Rabbi Millstein to determine the adult education offerings of the congregation. The DOE is responsible for administering, publicizing and providing educational and logistical support for these programs.

Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience in Jewish education preferred, ideally in a Reform Jewish setting.
• A master’s degree in Jewish education or rabbinic or cantorial ordination preferred.
• Knowledge of and support for Reform Jewish principles and practices.
