Join The Lookstein Center and guest speaker Moshe Linetsky to explore how the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is commonly presented (and often misrepresented)—and why those narratives matter. We examine the dominant ways the conflict is framed in public discourse and explore how selective history and oversimplified narratives shape student understanding. Educators will gain a clear framework for identifying biased or misleading presentations while grounding discussion in historical accuracy and intellectual integrity.
The session then dives into the core issues at the heart of the conflict: refugees, territory, and Jerusalem. Through a clear legal, historical, and political lens, we unpack how the Palestinian refugee issue emerged, why it is unique, and what both sides propose as realistic solutions. We also explore the evolving status of the West Bank, Gaza, and Jerusalem across key historical periods, highlighting the complexity often erased in public discourse. This session equips participants with the knowledge and language to engage confidently, critically, and constructively in conversations about Israel across disciplines.
The session is geared toward 3rd-12th grade educators.
