Smith is a K-8 community Jewish day school open to all families seeking an excellent secular and Jewish education for their children. The ideal candidate will be a creative, engaging educator with expertise in a broad range of Jewish Studies knowledge and Hebrew language skills. They should have a record of creating strong relationships with students and be comfortable teaching in a pluralistic environment emphasizing Jewish identity development and experiential education techniques. Smith teachers are expected to be collaborative team players, innovative thinkers, cheerleaders for one another and the school, and agents of academic innovation.
Responsibilities
●Teach Hebrew Language, Bible/Rabbinic Literature, Holidays and Customs, Prayers, Israel
●Maintain organized classroom infrastructure to provide orderly, productive learning environment
●Provide accommodations and modifications to support the success of all students
●Assess student progress toward mastery of standards
●Communicate with parents
●Work cooperatively with other teachers in creating, implementing units and lessons
●Demonstrate excellent verbal, written communications skills (Hebrew,
English)
●Operate as an advocate for, and supporter of, inquiry- and problem-based learning

Requirements
●Teaching certificate/BA in Education, BA in Jewish Studies, MA in Jewish Studies, MA in Jewish Education preferred
●Successful experience teaching courses in Hebrew, Jewish Studies
●Experience and/or training in Legacy Heritage Standards and Benchmarks program, differentiated instruction, technology integration, working with students with diverse learning needs preferred
